PARENTS OF TEENAGERS
Parenting a Pre-Teen or a Teenager Isn't Easy
I have two teenagers and one pre-teen, but I also have three children who are now in their twenties, so I have negotiated the teenager years three times, and am now doing it all over again. I know that it isn’t easy, which is why it is important to look after yourself as well as your family.
As a parent, you feel a mixture of emotions from positive and happy, to worried and frustrated. You look back at the close relationship that you used to have with your child and miss those cuddles and chats. Now, you worry that you don’t have the same connection and ask yourself if it will come back. You wonder if other parents have the same thoughts and feelings.
You may be worrying about their mental health, their lack of motivation or their attitude. You may be feeling exhausted from attempting to communicate effectively or managing their attitudes.
You want to be able to enjoy a better relationship with your teenager, improve their mindset and motivation.
It’s not easy and that’s why it is so important to look after yourself too.
Working on your own self-love, mindset and personal growth, doesn’t only benefit you, but it also benefits your whole family. When you are restored, resilient and have self-worth, you are more able to support your family and your new energy will positively affects those around you.
The best thing you can do for your family is to do work on yourself. You deserve it and they deserve it.
